Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How many Destroyer models were made out of Korina?
The short answer is "none".
African Korina (Terminalia Superba aka White Limba) wood was used in the original Gibson instruments but not in the Ibanez versions. I believe the Destroyer prototypes were made completely from Mahogany, a very few of the first run Model 2459s were made completely from Mahogany, and the remaining production models were made from some combination of Sen (Ash)/Maple, Alder/Birch, or Basswood/Birch/Maple.
This answer opens Pandora's Box, however. The Ibanez literature of the period repeatedly states that the Model 2459 was made from "Ash". There is some disagreement within the community as to whether these references meant North American Ash or whether they meant Japanese Sen which was erroneously called "Japanese Ash" because of the similarity in its color and grain to North American Ash.
All three (3) woods - African white limba, North American ash, and Japanese sen - are very light colored with a light grain. The golden color was achieved by mixing a colored tint into a clear finish.
I have a Destroyer that I wish to buy/sell/get appraised. Will you please tell me how much it's worth?
It's worth however much the owner can get for it or however much you are willing to pay for it. If you would like a more objective answer, I suggest looking into various pricing guides for vintage guitars. I am not endorsing either of these but I have heard others speak of the "Vintage Guitar Magazine Annual Pricing Guide" and the "Blue Book of Electric Guitars". I may not have these titles exactly correct but that should get you close enough to find them.
I have a Destroyer DT-xyz. How rare is this guitar? How many were made? What color finishes did they come in?
If those answers aren't listed on the appropriate Destroyer model page or in the referenced catalogs, then I have no idea.

I have an Ibanez catalog that is not listed on your site and it contains Destroyer model(s). Are you interested?
Again: absolutely. Please e-mail me at destroyer_poc@live.com and we'll discuss loading it onto the site.
Are any of the guitars I see on the site for sale? Will you please send me the owners' contact information?
"No" and "absolutely not" so please don't ask. These fine folks have done us a favor by providing us with photographs so please respect their privacy.
I have a Destroyer DT-xyz and I want to sell it. Would you be interested in buying it?
Maybe. My interest partially depends upon which model it is, what condition it's in, how much you're asking for it, and how much disposable income I have at that point in time. E-mail me at destroyer_poc@live.com and we'll discuss it.
